The purpose of this blog is to share what I feel are what our founding fathers intended for our system of government to be and how important it is for us to be ever vigilant in defense of our freedom and liberties.
Back when our Constitution was being written and debated there were two main factions – those who favored a strong central government (who adopted the moniker “Federalist”) and those who had strong reservations about the scope of power being granted this new government by the proposed Constitution who were then titled as being “Anti-Federalists”. I am really a mixture of the two, as I feel most conservatives are. I believe like the Federalists that we do need a strong central government, but like the Anti-Federalists that it should be a very limited government in respects to its authority and power. Instead, much of the day-to-day governing of the citizenry should be left to the states and local authorities, and in this instance I become an Anti-Federalist. Both sides have their place, but alas today our federal government has overflowed the levies put in place by the Constitution and the dangers of our liberties being swept away by the flood of tyranny so feared by the Anti-Federalists are coming to pass.
Because of the rapidity at which this belittling of our freedoms is taking place I have begun reading and studying much of our early history and those who made it, and I will try to share with any who come to this blog what I glean from my studies and research and give my insights on how I feel our current situation is so far afield of where our founders intended for us to be. None of what I write will be original as I will offer many quotes from our founders to support my points, nor will the events to which I make reference be ones that you will most likely not already be familiar with.
My aim is to post on a weekly basis one major essay by no later than every Monday, with the possibility of one or two additional ones during the week. However, those additional ones will be more infrequent as to produce what I trust you will find to be a quality essay every Monday I must devote most of my time to reading, writing and editing it.
One final thing I would ask is that if you find my writing and thoughts worthwhile that you would share this site with others that you know as my aim is to help as many as possible who may not have the time to do the reading from which I draw my points and quotes to benefit from my efforts, and as you read, please feel free to leave your comments as I welcome your feedback.
